Player of the year voting procedure

The majority verdict on player of the year voting was to do a 3-2-1 after each round. Kevan has designed a link for this purpose (on left under STATS). Check it out but don't vote for yourself just yet.
Meanwhile, Anthony raises a good point and one which we can vote on in our next poll. His suggestion is that only six player of the year votes should be allocated to each game. Whoever tallies the most points just gets 3 points towards the final voting, the second highest gets two and the third highest (and ties) get one. If two players are tied for first then they get three each and no-one else polls a point. Last year we added up all the raw points. So for an example: TH10 scores eight goals and sets up three more in round one, drawing the maximum 3 points from all 20 in the squad. He then retires and misses the rest of the season but no-one else can catch his 60 points and he wins the coveted CHOTY award. Under Anthony's system TH10 would get just three points for round one and every subsequent MOM would get three points.
I'm interested to hear your comments on this and I'll post it as a poll when the fines poll has elapsed.
PS: The Illawarra junior season kicks off April 5 so this may or may not have some bearing on when we kick off.

Good point. I would however suggest that only the players involved in the game (max 14?) be eligible to vote. I played with Burwood where we had a system of 3-2-1 'raw', and even when a player (usually striker or goalkeeper) blitzed the points, it was still generally around the 30 mark, and the contest stayed remarkably close.
The progress chart was on the website, though went 'silent' with about 6 rounds remaining, creating some real interest at the end of year get together as players were called forward from last to first. The winner was also presented with a dodgy jacket, his name embroidered, and this in turn was presented the following year to the new winner as the perpetual 'trophy'.

Wow, I love the jacket idea. I think the encumbent CHOTY should shop for it. Fyi, There are a max 16 players involved in the game and I think the sideline coach (if there is one) should probably get a vote as well.
Kev, we should look at how to hide the results as well.

I somehow knew you'd get me to the shopping.
An additional pro on the 'raw' side of the voting system is that all players points (even if it's 1 or 2), can feature on the chart and not just the cumulative top 3 on a given day, allowing for more interest in the progress accross the board.
I would definitely retire if I ever scored 8 goals, let alone setting up few (and I'd probably get a jacket made up for myself).

Another key factor in the voting procedure - to ensure voting parity accross weeks where we only have 11 voting compared to a full week of 17 voters.
The points are apportioned accross all players by didviding their point tally for the round by the total number of points awarded, multiplied by 100. This means each week the same number of points get allocated (ie.100) regardless of the number of voters.
Hope this makes sense to you Kev.

Haven't got a bllody clue what you're on about #7.

As to hiding the results..darn if I ghaven't been writing some REALLY tasty ajax stuff to make the results appear on the same page as you vote...

anyhow..in the new version (not live at present, )regardless of who you vote for..Ant gets the points!

Plus the voting button only shows in Firefox but not IE (poxy microsoft sucks)...either we, will have it fixed before too long.

Agree that total up votes per game and only allocate points to the top 3.
