Around the grounds
Our next opponent, IFS Rangers, slumped to a 2-1 loss against Puma Masters on Saturday as the goals rained in in Masters 2. Elsewhere, two of our toughest rivals, Jamberoo and Old Boys FC, battled to a 4-4 stalemate. In an astonishing result (and no disrepect to the Students but I wouldn't be surprised if it was posted the wrong way around) Uni Gangrenes won their first of the season with an 8-2 defeat of Balgownie Crows. Fernhill were on the wrong side of a 7-0 shellacking from the Makos, who we beat 3-0 in our previous game. According to stats king Kev's table (with no help from the IAFA on this) the weekend results leave us six points clear at the top, having played an extra game on the chasing pack. I note that Kev's table hasn't included Uni's win from the weekend, so maybe I'm not the only one with doubts.

Uni have some decent players. Maybe they found a keeper who can catch/move.

I've added the results in - the byes and canceled games make it bloody confusing - we're 5 clear of Jamberoo.
Wouldn't let our lead go to our heads though, IFS (our next opponents) beat Jamberoo earlier on and only lost their other games by the odd goal.
We really should be setting our sights on being undefeated, at least until late June when we play Jamberoo for the first time - and then we need points from them too. A bogey team from last year, as the Cows were.

The iafa has decided, on our urging, to do away with the three points and 3-0 win for the bye, because of the new washout rule. It makes sense. This means that with 4 wins from 4 we are three points clear of Puma Makos who have 9 points from 3 wins and a loss. A sobering thought is that we haven't played any of the other top four teams - the other way of looking at it is that if we had have played them they wouldn't be top three. The other point is we haven't played Fernhill or Balgownie who are shipping massive numbers of goals each week.
TH10,something to think about now the byes are worth no points.the team who had their bye during a washout will actually be able to score points in 20 games at present whereas everyone else can only total points out of 19 games.i think that is IFS.look at that and tell me if I'm being maths brain dead,Ian
