The bye can't come quickly enough for the crocked Chogs after a second straight defeat on Saturday. Having to play with 13 players - several of whom were suffering significant knocks or colds - proved too much for the Chogs who fell to a better organised and fitter team. There was no lack of effort, however, and the story might have been different but for a bit of luck and some better refereeing.
Sean's burst into the box in the first half was halted by a double foul from the Pumas defenders but the referee ("I don't think he's biased, just shit" said one spectator) somehow came to the conclusion that they both kicked the ball instead of Sean.
The Chogs set up defensively and it seemed to work in the start but a serious lapse of concentration led to the opening goal. A superb save from Hector had the opposition howling that the ball had crossed the goalline. As they berated the ref we failed to clear our lines on the left, a cross came in to the far post and we had no-one there to prevent the goal.
Ant came close but was decked by the keeper, who was clearly not going for the ball, and the ref again waved play on. At half time our newcomer Roger had to leave, which left us facing a tough 45 minutes with two subs and several of us limping.
The game swung decisively soon after the resumption. Mark's goalward header was parried by the Pumas keeper and the ball just eluded Sean as he he slid in at the far post with the net wide open. The Pumas scrambled it clear, pushed up the other end and Hitman clipped the heels of the opposition attacker as he moved into the box on the right. From my viewpoint a penalty was the right decision, but the call grated considering the two or three shouts we had rejected in the first half.
Hector chose the right way but the penalty was struck too well. The Pumas added a third soon after with some hesitant defending to blame but an own goal gave us a glimmer of hope with half an hour to play.
Kev tried a couple of shots from range which came close but ultimately the Pumas were in control and deserved their win.

Sorry guys (particularly Pete), I feel bad about bringing that guy down in the box. He played for it, he propped towards me when I caught him and went down very easily. No excuses however, I did clip him, I need to be more careful. But you're 100% right FM, there was a lot more that should have gone our way. We're good enough to beat those guys. Heads up CHOGS!
FM? He writes better than that...
Sounds like the game was a lot closer than the actual result, you can use that positive performance the next time we play them....and beat them!
Unlucky Guys!!

Sorry TH10, looks like another fine coming my way....
From memory TH10:
I had said to you shortly after that decisive penalty that the man was either really bad or biased. You then said to me that he was not biased just really shit.
I cannot get over how bad he was. Its doubtful we've won a game that he controlled. One from memory we drew.
While time dims the dissappointment of saturdays loss lets all look forward to the return bout at the burg. Hopefully on a larger field.
